Divisions
- All divisions are co-ed.
- For ages 5 to 8 (i.e. U7 and U9) all teams are Recreational only.
- For players aged 9 to 17 (i.e. U11 to U18) we offer both Competitive and Recreational divisions, allowing kids to choose the level of play that best suits their skills and playing experience.
- At the time of registration players may choose to play in either Recreational or Competitive divisions subject to the following provisions:
- All boys A1 and A2 rep ice hockey players and goalies must play in their respective Competitive division.
- A3-A4 rep and house ice hockey players and goalies may play in either the Competitive or the Recreational division.
- Females may play in either Recreational or Competitive divisions regardless of their ice hockey level.

* Note: Female players are entitled to ONE EXTRA year of eligibility in each division. For example, a female aged 9 may choose to play in the U9 division, a female aged 11 may play in U11, and a female aged 13 may play in U13, etc. Playing down is optional. Any females wishing to do so must specifically state this at the time of registration.
- For players aged 18 and over (born in 2006 or earlier), we have a separate adult league, which has its own website at www.nsihla.com
- Any U18 players wishing to play in the adult league must also register to play in the U18 division of the youth league.
